§ 07Industries / IND-02
Food, beverage & flavour
Food-contact container supply is where the gap between a defensible claim and an indefensible one is widest and hardest to see from outside. This sector gets our most tightly controlled path and our most detailed paperwork.
- Path
- Fully segregated — separate intake, water, racking
- Fill history
- Food-only or unused, documented per unit
- Fittings
- New only; no reclaimed valves or gaskets
- Wash
- Dedicated 185 °F sanitising circuit
§ 07.aWhat arrives in totes
The products we see in this sector.
- Liquid sweeteners and syrups
- Edible oils and fats
- Flavour and fragrance concentrates
- Fruit purée and juice concentrate
- Liquid malt extract
- Brines, vinegars and acidulants
- Dairy intermediates

- Closure
- Tamper-evident where required
- 2

- 0
- Reclaimed fittings on this path
- 185°F
- Sanitising cycle temperature
- 100%
- Units with documented history
Food water never mixes with industrial.
New valves, gaskets and caps only.
Dedicated food-grade programme.
No unit enters without a declaration.
§ 07.cReference
Food-grade conditions — all four required
| Condition | What it requires | Who usually meets it |
|---|---|---|
| Compliant resin | FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 HDPE | Essentially everyone |
| Clean fill history | Unused, or food-contact only, throughout | Fewer |
| Segregated handling | Separate intake, water, racking, staging | Fewer still |
| Documented chain | Per-unit evidence travelling with the load | Fewest |
A supplier whose food-grade claim rests on compliant resin alone has told you something true about every tote in existence.
§ 07.dSector-specific problems
What goes wrong here, and what we do about it.
Four problems we see repeatedly in this sector, with the answer rather than a sales line.
The problem
Flavour and fragrance concentrates permeate severely
Our answer
Those units never re-enter a food path. For incoming flavour concentrate we recommend rebottled stock — the bottle has never held anything, so the question does not arise.
The problem
Allergen history in a shared container pool
Our answer
We supply the declared fill history per unit so your QA team can make the assessment. We do not make allergen clearance judgements on your behalf.
The problem
Supplier quality agreements and annual audits
Our answer
Both welcome. Several accounts in this sector audit our segregated path annually — bring your checklist.
The problem
Hot-fill temperature requirements above 140 °F
Our answer
HDPE is not the right container. We source reconditioned stainless, which is steam-cleanable and handles 400 °F.
§ 07.eOther sectors
Different problem? Different page.
Each of these covers a genuinely different container requirement rather than the same text with the name changed.
- Chemical manufacturing & blending
- Agriculture & crop inputs
- Water treatment & municipal
- Breweries & distilleries
- Oilfield & industrial fluids
- Construction & concrete admixtures
- Waste brokers & environmental firms

Pricing for food, beverage & flavour.
Give us the product, the volume and the duty. We'll specify the grade, the gasket and the pallet, and tell you if a cheaper option would do the same job.
