§ 03.4Products / New
We sell new totes.
We’ll also tell you
when not to buy them.
Sometimes a specification genuinely requires a virgin assembly — a regulated first fill, a customer mandate, a packing group at the edge of the design type. When it does, we stock them. When it doesn't, we would rather sell you a reconditioned unit and keep the difference in your budget and out of the atmosphere.

§ 03.4.1When new is the right answer
Five situations where we'll agree with you.
These are the cases where we stop arguing and load a virgin unit. There is no point in a reclaim company that cannot recognise its own limits.
- A regulatory first-fill requirement — some pharmaceutical intermediates and certain regulated agrochemicals mandate a virgin container.
- A customer or retailer mandate that explicitly specifies new packaging, documented in your supply agreement.
- Packing group I materials at the upper limit of the 31HA1 design type, where any service history adds risk you cannot justify.
- A product whose permeation sensitivity is so high that even a new-bottle rebottled unit is ruled out by your own testing.
- Dimensional or fitting specifications that do not exist in the reclaimed population — unusual valve configurations, non-standard footprints.
And the three we'll push back on
- “We’ve always bought new”Not a specification. Tell us the duty and let us show you the reconditioned equivalent.
- “Our customers would notice”Often true for cosmetics, which is what rebottled stock is for — new bottle, reclaimed cage, 44% of the carbon.
- “It’s cleaner”A new bottle is unused, not sterile. If you need sterile, you need to treat it at your facility regardless of what you buy.

We show this chart on the new-tote page deliberately. If the specification requires new, buy new — but buy it knowing the number.
How we offset the decision
When you buy new from us, the tote you retire goes into our loop rather than a landfill. On a replacement purchase that typically recovers 176 lb CO₂e of the 315 you just spent — because your old cage becomes somebody’s rebottled unit.
Mention the units you are replacing on any form on this site and we will quote the buy-back against the purchase. Most customers are surprised how much of the new-tote invoice it covers.

Buy-back on replacement
Buying new to replace existing units? We will quote the collection and purchase of your old totes against the new order, often on the same trailer — delivery out, empties back.
How our buy-back works →§ 03.4.3One trailer, both directions
New units out. Your old ones back.
Our most common new-tote order is a swap: a trailer arrives with virgin units and leaves with the empties they replaced. You pay freight once, we pay you for the empties, and nothing gets hauled to a roll-off.
- One freight movement instead of two
- Buy-back credited against the new-unit invoice
- Your retired cages go into our rebottling line, not scrap
- Reclaim Ledger certificate issued for the recovered units
§ 03.4.4New totes, questioned
Worth asking before you order.
Why would a reclaim company sell new totes at all?
Because some specifications genuinely require them, and a customer who cannot get a virgin unit from us will get one from somebody who will never see their empties again. We would rather be in the loop for the whole lifecycle, including the start of it.
Are your new totes the same as buying direct from a manufacturer?
Same units, same marking, same certification. Where we add value is specifying them — and in telling you honestly when a reconditioned or rebottled unit would do the same job.
Can I get new totes faster than 5–10 days?
Sometimes, from standing stock, in standard 275 and 330 gallon configurations. Non-standard valves, pallets or gasket materials add lead time because they are built to order.
What's the difference between 31HA1 and 31HA1/Y?
The /Y suffix indicates the design type has been tested and approved for packing groups II and III. Full decoding on the UN/DOT ratings page.
Before you commit the budget
Describe the duty. We'll tell you the cheapest thing that does it.
Nine times out of ten that is a reconditioned unit. When it isn't, you'll get a straight answer and a new one.
